By far, this is the most personally significant film I have undertaken in my life. This is not to take away from the many other fine productions I have had the privilege of being involved in, but The Singing Revolution tells a tale that Maureen and I were uniquely positioned to produce.
We have a cinema art film on our hands, and not a mainstream production, so we know that getting people into theaters is not an easy task. People know so little about Estonia, that we are very dependent on PR and word of mouth to first get people even aware that the film exists, and then we have to get them motivated enough to get up and go out to the theater. No poster or title alone can convey what this film is about. We know that our audience needs to become aware of the story, at least a little, before we can expect them to watch the film.
So if you have come far enough to find our website, and have stayed on the site long enough to be reading these words, I thank you. This site touches on the story, and can give you a sense of the film. I hope you will take a chance and give up some of your ever-more-valuable time (that we all seem to have less of these days) to see this film.
We do not consider it an historical film, though history provides the backdrop. We do not consider it an Estonian film, though that is where the story takes place. We consider it an inspirational film, a film that can lift ones spirit about humankinds potential in this world of conflict we all live in. Be ready to be amazed and uplifted.
