We have taken a page from other activists, and have developed a package for spreading the word about the Singing Revolution through a screening party in your home. It works like this.

You will receive a package of The Singing Revolution materials, for use at a screening party and as giveaways. More specifically, we provide you with one copy of the 3-disc Collector's Edition DVD 1.0, eight Home Version DVDs, eight books, one large poster, one small poster (with a thank you note from Jim and Maureen written on it), and twenty post cards which can used for invitations.

You then have many options.

1. You can show only the film itself to your guests.

2. You can show the film plus some of the extras provided in Collector's Edition 1.0. You could screen the ludicrous Stalinist propaganda film clip, or the amazing 1939 Nazi newsreel that features the joint Nazi/Red Army celebration about the conquest of Poland. You could play additional interview comments on the song festival or on the role of culture in the Soviet Union. Any one of these could generate interesting additional discussions.

3. You could concentrate on the new material in the Collector's Edition, and not on the film itself. This is for a party where guests have already seen the movie. Forest Brother Alfred Käärmann’s full story (as told by himself) is a riveting 50 minutes. You could print out documents for discussion…the full translations of speeches from the 1987 Hirve Park demonstration...or the negotiations between Stalin and the Estonian delegation in 1939 (which make for very compelling reading and gives a unique behind-the-scenes look at Josef Stalin). As for the eight Singing Revolution books and DVDs, you could give them away as gifts, or, as some have done, ask for a donation in return for the book and DVD to help cover your cost of materials.

The cost of the basic package is $495 (Value: $645.05). If you wish to invite more than eight people, a second box of eight additional DVDs, eight additional books, and twenty more postcards is $395 (Value: $505.20).

To be truthful, this idea is an experiment. We are looking for the imagination and energy of our supporters to take the lead and show us what can be done. If enough people choose to host a party like this, we will create a spot on the website for hosts to share their different approaches to a “Singing Revolution” party.
